Job Description:
The University is seeking a full time (12 month) Assistant Athletic Trainer to grow its staff. This position involves assisting the Head Athletic Trainer in developing and implementing the sports medicine program for intercollegiate athletics. This position will be responsible for assisting in aspects of the sports medicine program including coordination of team doctor visits, game and practice coverage, rehabilitation, EMR records and data entries in the NCAA Surveillance System. The position reports to the Head Athletic Trainer and the Director of Athletics & Recreation.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Clinical Evaluation and Diagnosis:
- Evaluation of athletic injuries
- Serve as liaison between student-athletes and the team physician. This includes ensuring compliance with team physician instructions
- Assist Head Athletic Trainer in coordinating allied healthcare services (physician, cardiologists, dentist, physical therapist, neurologists etc.)
- Immediate and Emergency Care:
- Responsible for assisting the head athletic trainer to make sure all policies and protocols are up to date
- Assist the head athletic trainer to make sure all emergency equipment is functioning
- Treatment and Rehabilitation
- Responsible for performing treatments within the scope of practice
- Responsible for creating rehabilitation programs
- Treat acute and chronic injuries to maintain student athlete performance
- Organization and Professional Health and Well-Being
- Assisting the Head Athletic Trainer in all aspects of the sports medicine program including coordination of team doctor visits, scheduling of team game and practice coverage, data logins of the NCAA Surveillance System
- Maintain computerized health/injury records on supervised student-athletes
- Assist with maintaining athletic training facility and inventory of supplies and equipment
- Responsible for updating and distributing summer paperwork for athletes
- Assist Head Athletic Trainer in filing secondary insurance claims
- Responsible for assisting with inventory
- Game Coverage
- Travel with teams as needed
- Responsible for setting up all emergency equipment on the field
- Communicate/Coordination with event staff
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to work in a diverse work environment and to establish and maintain effective work relationships with school administrators, parents, students, and alums
- Ability to lead and work independently as well as within a team environment.
- Ability to effectively communicate with student-athletes, coaches, health care professionals, as well as athletic and college administration.
Qualifications:
- BOC certification
- NATA Membership and NYS certification eligible
- American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid certification
- NPI number
Education:
- Master’s degree in related field.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of related experience.
Physical Demands/Other Requirements
This position requires persons to:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Travel required for competitions
Salary:
This exempt position has an annual salary range of $58,500.
Hours Expectation:
Full-time, 35 hours per week
